By either hope or memory?

The photographs were taken in Helsinki on February 26th.

This morning I walked for 2 hours 20 minutes around lake Meiko, visiting lake Vaipo and lake Vitträsk as well. In many places the frozen snow carried a person walking. I walked through the open swamp Slätmossen. On the Meiko lake there were people skiing and ice-fishing, but otherwise it was very quiet.

If I were there or you were here

The photographs were taken in Meiko on February 24th.

This morning I walked for two hours in north parts of Nuuksio, visiting seven lakes: Poika-Suolikas, Lummukas, Syvä-Antias, Iso-Antias, Levo-Antias, Sammalkuoho and Suolikas. In many places the snow was frozen so that it carried a man walking. When I started walking, the temperature was -12 °C, and when I returned, -5 °C.

I spied you at the prow of some sensation

The photographs were taken in Meiko on February 24th.

Yesterday I cleaned and oiled the bicycle chain. Street maintenance are using salt to cope with the snow on the road, and that is bad news for chains and other such parts.

The happy moment will arrive when I shall see

The photograph was taken at lake Myllyjärvi south of Luukki on February 23rd.

Snow and ice is melting today, and temperature will rise up to +5 °C in the afternoon. Next week seems to be colder, though, especially the nights, but at least there isn't heavy snowfall or rain the in the forecast.

The photographs were taken in Nuuksio on February 22nd.

The weather is getting colder, and we had -4 °C in the morning and in the afternoon. There was some snowfall, but the snow mostly melted away from the road except places where there was ice. So far this year I have got 1,010 km riding the bicycle.

Happiness needs a setting

The photographs were taken at Velskola on February 21st.

This morning I went for a walk in the north parts of Sipoonkorpi national park. The snow was frozen, but didn't carry a person walking, except in places where there were ski tracks or tracks from animals. I managed to get a bit lost, which was great, and found plenty of new sights.

Just trying to have myself a time

The photographs were taken at Velskola on February 21st.

I commuted by bicycle today. In the morning the temperature was -13 °C, and in the afternoon -5 °C. Snow is melting by the roadside, and melt water is freezing on the road making it slippery.

They choose the path where no-one goes

The photographs were taken at Velskola on February 21st.

The photographs were taken at Velskola on February 21st.

The weather got colder today, -1 °C in the morning and -3 °C in the afternoon. There was ice on the road, and heavy headwind when riding back home from work. So far this year I have got 909 km riding the bicycle.

The brake pads are wearing out fast during winter. Today I installed new pads both in front and back, and I expect that I need to replace them within three weeks or so.

I didn't even notice the leather's soft tan

The photographs were taken on February 20th in Luukki.

We got more rain today, and the snow and ice has melted away from most of the road between home and work. Those parts where snow and ice still remains are not so good for riding the bicycle, and there are puddles of water hiding ice bumps and ridges. And plenty of slush.

She holds in one hand

The photographs were taken on February 20th in Luukki.

Today we got some rain, and the snow and ice is melting into slush. Riding the bicycle will be somewhat difficult if the slush freezes into ridges, but that remains to be seen.

In my heart, steeping my

The photographs were taken at Petikko on February 19th.

This morning I walked for 2 1/2 hours in Nuuksio. The temperature was at 0 °C, and snow was starting to melt. Depth of snow was 30 cm and I thought that snow shoes might be a good idea, even though the tall rubber boots were almost tall enough to cope with the snow.

I got 8 1/2 hours of exercise in five days, commuting by bicycle on four days. So far this year I have got 808 km riding the bicycle. In the beginning of the week at was rather cold, but today the temperature rose to +1 °C. There was 5 cm of new snow, and the old snow and ice underneath started to melt.

If you were not blind, you’d never survive

The photographs were taken in Helsinki on February 17th.

Today I commuted by car, train and metro. This would have been an excellent day for commuting by bicycle, but that wasn't possible. For tomorrow the forecast promises some new snow, but I hope it isn't so much as to prevent riding the bicycle.
