So that this tree can grow

The photographs were taken on October 6th.

I commuted by car today. Sitting in a car was not pleasant, but I managed to endure. For tomorrow morning the weather forecast promises -1 °C, but there is no snow yet. For Wednesday the forecast promises up to 10 cm of snow. I'm not sure whether it would be wise to try commuting by bicycle then.

How we do it all sometimes I wonder

The photographs were taken on October 2nd.

I'm planning to install winter tires to the car today. I hope none of the bolts get stuck. There might be 10 cm of snowfall next week.

I had a look at the weather forecast of FMI (Finnish Meteorological Institute), and noticed something rather interesting in the temperature measurements curve, see below. Is this proof of time travel? Or perhaps this is due to many-worlds interpretation? (No, it was the end of summer time here in Finland.)

When a man has a vision

The photographs were taken on October 2nd.

This morning I walked for two hours at Pirttimäki. After the rain the ground was wet. I should have used tall rubber boots instead of hiking shoes.

Not through his eyes or through his brain or through his years

The photographs were taken on October 2nd.

This year I have got 5555 km riding the bicycle. Because of the rain, the bicycle was quite dirty today afternoon, and it took some time to clean it up.

The day is fading quickly and the hour is nearly here

The photograph was taken on October 1st.

We didn't get below 0 °C temperature in the morning. It rained all the day. This wasn't a particularly nice day for commuting by bicycle, but having the right clothes helps. The eyeglasses kept fogging up, tough.

Know what I mean?

The photographs were taken on October 1st.

Next night the temperature will drop below 0 °C. I wonder whether there will be ice on the road.

But it’s really not a game

The photographs were taken on September 29th.

This morning the road was dry, but in the afternoon it rained. Tomorrow morning there may be some snow as well. There are less and less people commuting by bicycle.

When he drawed that color line

The photographs were taken on September 24th at Linnanmäki Amusement Park, in the Sea Life aquarium.

This week the weather forecast promises rain, and perhaps there will be some snow as well. I installed a studded winter tire to the front of the bicycle. The Schwalbe Marathon Winter tire has 240 studs, which should offer enough grip on ice and snow. It is not bad on asphalt either.

You work so hard doing everything right

The photographs were taken on September 24th and 29th.

This week I got over 15 hours of exercise. That may be one of the reasons why I have been sleeping rather well lately.

I have been thinking about slogans, whether they would be good titles for the postings. For example, "Grab them by the ballot" is rather promising, considering the ignominious misogynist.

But what a lot of people don't know

The photographs were taken in Luukki on September 24th.

This morning I walked for two hours in Nuuksio, across the Soidinsuo swamp. In six days I have got 13 1/2 hours of exercise.

Such a silly sight I never thought I'd see

The photographs were taken on September 24th at Luukki.

This morning I walked 2 1/2 hours at Sipoonkorpi National Park, exploring the landscape around the Högberget hill.

I fitted them myself

The photographs were taken on September 23rd at Liesjärvi National Park.

This morning I walked three hours, circling around lake Meiko and lake Vaipo, and exploring the swamp southeast of lake Vaipo. When I started walking, the temperature was at -4 °C, and when I returned, it was 0 °C. The swamp was a little bit frozen, and frost whitened the landscape.

While walking I though about swamps, and the fact that a swamp might be the most awkward environment for a politician or any other spotlight-oriented person, when there is no audience, just you alone. I thought it might be a nice test for people striving to be elected to have then go to a swamp, all alone. I guess there would be two types of behavior.

The first one to go wouldn't make any preparations for the walk, and would return after five minutes, the front of the suit all covered in wet mud, after falling in. He would be loud and aggressive, saying that swamps are dangerous and they should be walled all around, or even better, all swamps should be drained and covered with asphalt, with golden towers for billionaires to live in, and perhaps also millionaires if they are of the right type, blond and beautiful. He would be cussing loudly all the way to the locker room.

The second one to go would have done thorough preparations, wearing tall rubber boots and carrying binoculars and a camera. She would return many hours later, tired but brimming with thoughts, telling about a specific rare moss growing there, and what types of birds are nesting. She would tell how swamps are an important part of the global ecosystem, to be cherished and valued, to protect the Earth for us all.

As our time grows short I get a little nervous

The photographs were taken at Liesjärvi National Park on September 23rd.

This morning I walked for over two hours at Vaakkoi, exploring the open swamps. Temperature was at -3 °C when I started and 0 °C when I returned. There was frost. The swamp surface was a little bit frozen, but didn't yet carry a person walking.

But we know that’s a lie

The photographs were taken at Liesjärvi National Park on September 23rd.

I have been thinking about agents of entropy, people with an "anti-Midas" touch, so that everything they handle turns into the negative of worth or value. Also, I noticed that the word "trumpery" means "of little or no value; trifling, worthless; rubbishy; trashy", or (archaic meaning) "showy but worthless" and "delusive or shallow". It fits the brand.

No one was in sight

The photographs were taken at Liesjärvi National Park on September 23rd.

This morning I walked for 1 1/2 hours, taking photographs of autumn colors. I thought about the hateful greedy groper who incites misogyny. Such people are dangerous, those who never see the plank in their own eye.

Isn't anybody going to stop me?

The photographs were taken on September 18th.

The weather continues to be colder than usually this time of the year. In the morning the temperature was at 3 °C. I went for a walk at Vaakkoi, enjoying the late autumn landscape.
