As we put on, a token of control

The photographs were taken at Tremanskärr on April 17th.

It has been great to commute by bicycle, even though there is much pollen and dust in the air. The new bicycle behaves a bit differently than the old one. It is a bit smaller in size, which is better overall, but it is also a bit more sensitive to steering, and I need to adapt to this. With the old bicycle I needed to do much more work to get the bicycle to turn. The new bicycle reacts much easier, and this can be a bit surprising when one is riding fast.

I have been thinking about getting a new bicycle helmet, because the pads are breaking apart in the old one, which is a Limar 575 helmet, about eight years old. On eBay there are replacement pad sets available, but the shipping costs are such that it would cost almost the same as a new helmet. Buying a helmet from a net shop isn't really feasible, one needs to try the helmet out to see whether it fits. Limar 575 has been excellent, but this model is no longer available. I have looked at Limar 690 as a replacement. Giro and Bell helmets are also possible, as I have some experience of them also.

(Posting title is from the poem Meditation under a Pith Helmet by Turner Cassity.)
