Surely there is a secret

These photographs were taken in Nuuksio on January 11th.

I'm waiting for the snowfall to start. So far we have got 0.5 cm of snow, but much more is promised during the evening and night.

There are no unsacred places

The weather forecast promises up to 25 cm of snow for today, starting this afternoon. That means there is a lot of shoveling in the program for today. Currently we have about 13 cm of snow on the ground.

These photographs were taken on January 12th in Helsinki.

The technique of demonstration

I got ten hours of exercise in five days, quite a lot, and I forgot to take magnesium so my leg muscles are cramping. During January I rode the bicycle for 256 kilometers. It has been slippery, but the studded winter tires work fine.

That sea we see of surfaces

I'm feeling tired, probably because I have been getting a lot of exercise recently, eight hours in four days. Or maybe it is due to a lot of things happening.

The photographs were taken on January 13th, when we got some new snow.

Or can proportion of the outward part

These photographs are non-square, which is for me much less common than using the 1:1 aspect ratio. All taken in Nuuksio on January 11th.

I got yesterday almost four hours of exercise, two riding the bicycle, 1 1/4 hours walking between meetings, and half an hour shoveling snow. I thought I would be very hungry today, but it wasn't so. Also, muscles were not cramping, which was a surprise. But maybe that happens tomorrow.

I got today some new accessories for the LX100, a UV filter and a CPL filter, both 43 mm. I'm using the UV filter to protect the lens, and luckily the string for the lens cover is just enough for the added length. The CPL filter I'm not yet putting to test, but during summer it will be useful for taking photographs of water.

I pass that offers no vision

I'm feeling somewhat blue. This may be due to heavy work load, or the fact that I have got 3 h 15 min of exercise already today, and there may be some shoveling of snow still in the program.

These photographs were taken in Nuuksio on January 11th, along the Korpinkierros route.

If being by yourself separates from your symmetry

I commuted by bicycle today, which provided about two hours of exercise. The temperature has been hovering just above 0 °C, so snow is melting, but rather slowly. It is somewhat slippery, but the studded winter tires provide plenty of traction.

It meant we’d be lying low for some time

The Korpinkierros route in Nuuksio is 7.8 kilometers long, marked with yellow trail blazes so that it is hard (although not impossible) to get lost. Usually there are quite a few people walking along the route, but during winter there are days when you meet only a couple of people along the way. In winter there is a track which is easy to follow, except when there has been a heavy snowfall, then the path may be hidden under the snow in some places.

Accept what comes from silence

On January 11th I walked the Korpinkierros route in Nuuksio. There was a lot of new snow covering the trees, and part of the route I was the first to walk after the snowfall. It is rather challenging to take photographs of snow, but I'm slowly getting better. But when the winter is over all that skill disappears because of lack of practise.

I have forgotten all the rest

These photographs were taken in Luukki on January 10th. I went back there today, walking for over two hours. I didn't meet anyone else, but there were some footsteps in the snow, and when I returned, a couple of other cars had been parked at the parking lot.

On gray, snow fallen

These photographs were taken at Luukki on January 10th. I'm thinking about going for a walk today, but I'm bit unsure where to go. We are having clouded weather, temperature at -2 °C, but at least there is some snow on the ground.

You raise your eyes, and there's a pair

We got today some new snow, and I thought photographs with some snow would fit the theme. These were taken in Luukki on January 10th, walking there with my daughter.

So far this month I have got 128 km riding the bicycle, which isn't that much, but considering the circumstances I'm quite happy with it.

Perhaps I really am the sort of person you imagine

It has been excessively busy at work recently, for everyone, and that means all kinds of surprises due to hurry. But maybe this will calm down at some point.

I didn't commute by bicycle today, mostly due to laziness. Maybe tomorrow, but that depends on how much snow we are getting during the night.

Touching twisted into something

This week has been busy, so here are some blurry photographs, taken on January 8th.

I commuted by bicycle yesterday and today, a total of four hours of exercise, which feels good. In the morning it was quite cold, -9 °C, but it warmed up during the day.
